We all know that 'a friend in need is a friend indeed'. But how many of the 'friends' we meet prove it to be so? I remember that in my childhood days I used to consider all of my school friends to be my 'best friends'. They all used to be so helpful and caring, but with time I slowly realised that as I grew, I came across more and more fake people, two-faced people, backstabbing people and what not. There was hardly any 'friend' left to be called so.
Social media friends? Well, we have many such friends but do you really think they are someone to be called as 'friends'? They are there in that list just for, umm...maybe time-pass? Maybe just for checking out their posts and hitting likes on them? They are not real friends. You don't need tonnes of people to be your friends, to share your thoughts, to be there by your side in your hard times. If you have got ONE such friend, a shoulder to cry on, then consider yourself to be blessed.
According to me, a good friend should be someone with whom you can share your thoughts openly and frankly without hesitating, whom you can rely upon in your bad days, with whom you can enjoy your happy moments, and who won't judge you by whatever wrong you have done in your past. Now you'll be saying that all these qualities should be present in a bestie right? Well, you're right. I was speaking of my best friend. I believe that a best friend should be someone who is like a mirror to us, in front of whom we will be completely transparent about anything and everything, in front of whom we can be what we are. There should not be anything to hide, with the fear that he or she might judge us. If that's so, then that person can't be called a best friend.
Luckily, I have got such a person in my life whom I call my BEST FRIEND, my constant companion, my secret keeper, my well-wisher, my joker (sorry for this Grim Reaper 😛), my family❤
